# Extended Validation Certificates

Hi,

Let's Encrypt doesn't offer EV and doesn't planned to offer them because it can't be automated.

[FAQ - Let's Encrypt](https://letsencrypt.org/docs/faq/) :

> Let’s Encrypt offers Domain Validation (DV) certificates. We do not offer Organization Validation (OV) or Extended Validation (EV) primarily because we cannot automate issuance for those types of certificates.

> Will Let’s Encrypt issue Organization Validation (OV) or Extended Validation (EV) certificates?  
> We have no plans to issue OV or EV certificates.

But you don't _need_ an EV certificate. A standard DV certificate (as let's encrypt offers) will secure your website perfectly.

For what reason do you think you need an EV certificate?
