# ECDSA issuance in staging

@aarongable , is it possible to get an ECDSA chain in the staging environment, while we wait for the real thing?
Or is it dependent on some API changes that haven’t been implemented in Boulder yet?
Would be good to test client ability to procure these, or for ACME client developers to start working on changes to implement this, if such are necessary.

Yep, we’ll have issuance with ECDSA chains available in staging before we go live with the real thing. It doesn’t require any (ACME) API changes, but does require some lower-level changes to be made before we’re fully ready to issue from RSA and ECDSA side-by-side. Recent changes such as [https://github.com/letsencrypt/boulder/pull/5087](https://github.com/letsencrypt/boulder/pull/5087) are headed in that direction.
