# During secondary validation: Remote PerformValidation RPC failed

**My domain is:** apps.rak\*\*\*\*\*\*\*.com

**I ran this command:** sudo certbot certonly --dry-run --nginx -d [apps.rakcerambd.com](http://apps.rakcerambd.com)

It produced this output:  
Saving debug log to /var/log/letsencrypt/letsencrypt.log  
Plugins selected: Authenticator nginx, Installer nginx  
Starting new HTTPS connection (1): [acme-staging-v02.api.letsencrypt.org](http://acme-staging-v02.api.letsencrypt.org)  
Simulating a certificate request for apps.rak\*\*\*\*\*\*\*.com  
Performing the following challenges:  
http-01 challenge for apps.rak\*\*\*\*\*\*\*.com  
Using default addresses 80 and [::]:80 ipv6only=on for authentication.  
Waiting for verification...  
Challenge failed for domain apps.rak\*\*\*\*\*\*\*.com  
http-01 challenge for apps.rak\*\*\*\*\*\*\*.com  
Cleaning up challenges  
Some challenges have failed.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

The version of my client is (e.g. output of `certbot --version` or `certbot-auto --version` if you're using Certbot): certbot 1.11.0

nginx version: nginx/1.20.1

In case you have not yet seen, Let's Encrypt has identified a problem in their staging system. They are actively working to correct it.

And, it may already be corrected 🙂
