Do i need to change any config files to get cert?

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. crt.sh | example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is: seggs.xyz

I ran this command:

sudo certbot --apache

It produced this output:

Certbot failed to authenticate some domains (authenticator: apache). The Certificate Authority reported these problems:
  Domain: seggs.xyz
  Type: dns
Detail: No valid IP addresses found for seggs.xyz

Hint: The Certificate Authority failed to verify the temporary Apache configuration changes made by Certbot. Ensure that the listed domains point to this Apache server and that it is accessible from the internet.

Some challenges have failed.
Ask for help or search for solutions at https://community.letsencrypt.org. See the logfile /var/log/letsencrypt/letsencrypt.log or re-run Certbot with -v for more details.

My web server is (include version): apache2

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): ubuntu 18.4 lts

My hosting provider, if applicable, is: AWS lightsails

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don't know): yes

I'm using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):
no

The version of my client is: certbot 1.21.0

hii friends,

I did read a log file but it made me more confused.
Do I need to write or change some additional bits on any config files?
or...
I did Creating a DNS zone to manage your domain’s DNS records in Amazon Lightsail | Lightsail Documentation earlier today, and I remember it took a day to transfer domain name... (I used this domain with a different server before) so maybe it is the reason? Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It looks like the DNS was transferred to Lightsail. But, you did not do the instructions starting at step 3 of the page you linked to.

That is, there is no A record in the DNS zone that points to your Lightsail server.

Use this website to check your DNS. You will see it has NS and SOA records but no A record.
https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/#NS/

You should not have to wait long for a new A record to be visible

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.
You are very right! I added A record, and I was able to finish the setup.
