Discussion and addition requests for hosting provider list

I was wondering if the list is/was still being updated, although I hadn’t checked it out in some time. :roll_eyes:

wouldn’t it now better to make a list of hosting providers that don’t support free tls cert then try to make a list of all the random hosting providers?

There’s no point in shaming hosting providers, most of them run on legacy software platforms that they keep together with saliva and wooden sticks.

It’s better to highlight the good ones. (The really good ones)

I would really love for the list and all threads about it to be removed. There is little to no utility from them at this point, and the existence of them is to just generate requests for inclusion.

@pk-oso
For http validation, yes... DNS (wildcard) not so easy.

Thank you for your response.! What do you mean with "not so easy" with wildcard option? Just what I need is to activate a Wildcard certificate for my web services...

I found it unreasonably painful to manually post the txt records required for DNS wildcard certs on netsol... And wait for the records to propogate to the web. No real API to speak of (when they were hosting my DNS). They were my provider for twenty years before I switched all but one domain to another provider.

My solution at the time was to list all my hosts on one certificate. Kinda messy but it works.
Maybe another volunteer of the forum has a better perspective or solution.

Good Luck

Hello!

Zone (https://www.zone.eu) leading hosting provider in Estonia has Let's Encrypt and HTTP -> HTTPS redirect enabled by default on all new web hosts and subdomains on all shared hosting plans.

Let's Encrypt support has been enabled from the first day of beta.

Install acme-dns on a server (https://github.com/joohoi/acme-dns) and delegate your acme dns management to that. once set up, it lets you automatically handle DNS-01 challenges with an API - so you don't need your provider to offer an API, and if you do... it's generally more secure than using a provider's general-purpose API, as it will only handle the DNS challenges (not all of your dns)

Thanks for the heads up @jvanasco . I'll implement acme-dns for the next renewal cycle and report back with the results.
