Converting from Comodo

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. https://crt.sh/?q=example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is: https://www.devrod.com
My web server: Apache
My Sever OS:14.04 Ubuntu
My current CA: Comodo. Of course their “free” Certificates are a ploy to sell certificates.

I want to change to a CA that will continue to be free. It took me over 2 days to figure out how to apply the Comodo certificates and I don’t want to change CAs every 90 days.

So, 1. Are your certificates free, always? 2. do I need to remove the Comodo certificates before I use the Certbot? 3. any other guidance?

  1. Are your certificates free, always?

Yes

  1. do I need to remove the Comodo certificates before I use the Certbot?

No

  1. any other guidance?

I’d suggest starting with https://letsencrypt.org/getting-started/ and set up certbot to automatically renew the certificates for you ( so you can largely forget about it once done, as the update process will be automatic).

Do you have SSH / root access to your server ? or is this on shared hosting ?

Yes, the server is setting just behind me. I will begin your suggestions later this afternoon.
Thank You!
