# Challenge validity period

Completed domain validation challenges are currently valid for 60 days. This is expected to be [reduced to something like 7 days in the future](https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/upcoming-api-changes/17947?u=pfg), so the best way to think about it is probably that you’ll need to pass a new challenge for each renewal.
