When you install Certbot (except certbot-auto ), it installs a cron job (or systemd timer, depending how modern your OS is) that performs renewal (if necessary) of your certificates every ~12 hours.

It’s so every person doesn’t need to go setting up their own scripts/timers.

That really depends on the OS and the package used. For example, Gentoo doesn't install cronjobs or timers at all through their packages.

@rg305 and @l008com above: why are you so desperately trying to fix OCSP checking? It isn't a requirement for the actual working of certbot, right?
