Hi guys, thanks for reading.

I am getting the following error on Ubuntu 16 when trying to install LetsEncrypt:

“Client with the currently selected authenticator does not support any combination of challenges that will satisfy the CA.”

We have a lot of domains in this account already running SSL with no problems?

Stumped here!

You have provided no information which anyone can use in an attempt to help you.

We are equally stumped!

You should have started a post in the help category and filled out the following form:

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. [https://crt.sh/?q=example.com](https://crt.sh/?q=example.com)), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is:

I ran this command:

It produced this output:

My web server is (include version):

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version):

My hosting provider, if applicable, is:

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know):

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):

Hi Alento,

Thanks for getting back and I do apologise for the lack info.

If someone is looking at this, in fact the issue came up before and here is the answer:

> [@Solution: Client with the currently selected authenticator does not support any combination of challenges that will satisfy the CA](https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/solution-client-with-the-currently-selected-authenticator-does-not-support-any-combination-of-challenges-that-will-satisfy-the-ca/49983):

By running this line we succeeded in installing LetsEncrypt:

sudo certbot --authenticator standalone --installer apache -d [thedomain.com](http://thedomain.com) --pre-hook "systemctl stop apache2" --post-hook "systemctl start apache2"

replace "[thedomain.com](http://thedomain.com)" as appropriate.
